Veg Box  - ORDER NOW

How it works

Veg boxes are sold via Ooooby - click on the link above and this will redirect you to our Ooooby site where you can see what produce we have on offer. Boxes are available in a variety of sizes to suit all households with options for add ons when extra produce is available and for you to exclude items you do not like.

Orders are made 8 days in advance to ensure we are wasting as little produce as possible and to give ourselves and other growers the opportunity to sell any excess elsewhere.

You can get your box delivered to your door (£2.40) if you are within the delivery area or pick it up from one our collection points.

There are subscriptions for every week, every other week or as a one off. It is easy to set up a pause if you are away for any period of time but remember that you need to give us at least one weeks notice.

Deliveries happen between 1pm and 6pm.

Collections from Sale are from 3pm until 10pm.

Collections from Levenshulme are between 6pm and 9pm.

About our Veg Box

Some more information...

Our crop plan is constantly evolving and we are hoping that within a couple of years we will be able to supply 80%-90% of the veg box contents from our site during the summer and autmn  months. However, we cannot grow everything that will be needed in our veg boxes and therefore we will have to buy produce in - especially during winter months and during the "hungry gap" when more produce will need to be sourced from Europe.

Any bought in produce will be as seasonal and local as possible. By local we mean the UK as there are just not enough growers in the north west to supply everything needed for a veg box. We are very lucky to have on our doorstep Organic North Wholesalers from whom we will be sourcing the majority of the produce we buy in.

The main reason we have a week between ordering and delivery is so that we are not ordering more produce than we need to satisfy orders which will go to waste and saves money. It also means farmers and growers, including us, know in advance how much we will need to be harvesting on a particular week so they/we have the opportunity to sell any excess elsewhere, again reducing waste.

We aim to use as little plastic as possible. In some cases, especially where leafy produce is concerned, plastic is unavoidable - leaves do not last long without it. It is very difficult to find "home compostable" bags that are made without the use of GM products and thus allowed by organic certification. It is also a fact that around 70% of such bags is still made of polymers (i.e. plastic!) which for us begs the question - what does it break down into? This is a question that no-one seems to be able to answer. They are also very expensive adding 15-20% to a bag of leafy produce.

Our prices are based on what it costs us to produce our veg or what other growers/farmers/wholesalers charge us for their veg. We never haggle or try to get cheap produce and we always pay our suppliers on time. We will never make claims about being cheap or try to be competitive on price or compete with supermarkets. High quality veg costs more to produce and high quality veg from a market garden, where all the labour comes from people costs more due to the fact that physical labour is expensive when compared to using machinery. The prices we charge mean we can make a living and hopefully our suppliers can too.  It also means we can farm in a way that has as little impact on the environment as possible.

Not ticking all of your boxes?

You could try one of the other local veg boxes or grocery shops in the area....

If our boxes aren't quite what you are looking for then you might want to try a box from another business in the local area, some of which we supply on a regular basis. There are also local shops that do a great range in local organic produce so if a box is not your thing but you want to try local organic veg then you might want to check one of them out instead:
